Margie Jean Denning of Layton will celebrate her 86th birthday with her family.
The oldest child of Ivory Homer and Mary Lillie Holland, she was born on Dec. 16, 1926, in Gilmer, Texas. As a young child, she moved to Manassas, Colo. In 1941, her family relocated to Salt Lake City. She married Ronald Jay Denning in Salt Lake City on Aug. 30, 1947. The couple made their home in France while he was called back to service during the Korean War. Upon returning to the United States, she worked at Hill Air Force Base before retiring to spend time with her husband. He died in 1978. Following Jay’s death, she had a second career as a realtor.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served regularly in various callings. She has traveled to many areas of the world and now enjoys spending her time at home with family and gardening.
Her two daughters and their spouses are Peggy and Dale Anhorn, and Becky and Patrick Nord. She has six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
