OGDEN -- Weber County Attorney Dee Smith has identified a man shot by police Tuesday night after he rammed a police car.
Clifford Dean Owens, 51, was shot twice by an Ogden police officer responding to the Canyon Ridge Apartments to check on a report of an impaired driver. As the officer, who has not been identified, approached the car, the driver pulled away. The officer used his own car to corner the suspect vehicle, which rammed the police car twice.
At that point the officer fired, and the suspect car sped north on Interstate 15 at speeds up to 110 mph. The car was finally stopped in Cache County early Wednesday morning.
Smith said the man was treated for injuries that were not life-threatening. No other details will be released until the investigation is complete, Smith said.
