SALT LAKE CITY — The Northridge Knights picked up their second win in three games on Friday, topping East 42-36 in prep girls basketball action.
Northridge outscored East 15-9 in the final quarter to pick up the win. Sydnee Acord recorded a game-high 28 points and hit two 3-pointers to lead the Knights.
Northridge helped its cause by shooting 8 of 11 at the foul line.
Madison Roemer scored 24 points for East in the loss.
• WASATCH 54, OGDEN 46: At Heber, the Wasps won a tight non-league battle.
Ogden fell behind 27-21 at halftime, shooting 30 percent from the field, and 58 percent from the foul line.
• DESERT HILLS 66, BEAR RIVER 38: At St. George, the Bears managed just eight first-half points and couldn’t recover.
Blair Bliss and Haley Bodnar had 14 points apiece as the unbeaten Thunder led 37-8 at halftime.
Jordan Theurer led Bear River with 10 points. Kelsee Hancock added eight points.
• JUAB 41, BEN LOMOND 29: At Nephi, neither team warmed up until the second half, but the Wasps had enough to get the win.
Down 12-5 at the break, the Scots’ comeback was thwarted by being outscored by 10 at the foul line. Leanza Driscoll scored 10 and Sydney Bucher chipped in with seven points for Ben Lomond.
• CHAPARRAL, NEV. 51, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 47: At Las Vegas, the Eagles dropped their second straight game in the tournament.
Teneisha Davis had 12 points and 16 rebounds, while Shayla Simpson added 14 points ans six assists. Alyssa Atisme had 11 points and six steals, but the team struggled when she exited the game late with an ankle injury.
Jamie Coleman added four points and eight boards.
Late Thursday, Castlemont, Calif., topped LCA 63-49. Davison led the Eagles with 20 points and 10 rebounds.
