SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Attorney General-Elect John Swallow has filled two top positions on his staff.
Kirk Torgensen, who, with Swallow, has been one of two chief deputy attorneys general under Mark Shurtleff, will be the sole chief deputy attorney general under Swallow.
Former Utah National Guard Adjutant General Brian Tarbet will become general counsel for the office.
Torgensen has overseen the attorney general's criminal divisions, plus child protection, child support and commercial enforcement divisions, since he was appointed by Shurtleff in 2001.
In 2000, Tarbet took command of 7,500 soldiers for the Utah National Guard. He retired as adjutant general in September. He has 20 years of legal service and was previously the division chief for the Attorney General's Tax Division.
