Emma Martinez Carpio of Roy celebrated her 90th birthday with her family at the Golden Corral in Layton on Dec. 16.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1922, in Parkview, N.M., to Arcenio and Nepuomusena Sandoval Martinez.
She had two sisters and two brothers: Theodora Martinez, Sophia Valdez, Trancito Martinez and Ross Martinez.
She married Ralph Carpio on Aug. 17, 1946, in Ogden. He died on June 17, 1992.
Her children and their spouses are Clarissa and Donald Gutierrez, Chena and Bob Wright, Connie and Charles Denaster, Ralph J. Carpio, and Karianne Beus.
She has 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Haven. She enjoys embroidery and family gatherings.
