We pay a high price for gun worshipers' selfishness

Editor,

It’s another deadly Columbine or Virginia Tech-type school shooting; this time among very young children in Connecticut. One wonders when those among us who worship at the altar of the Second amendment will help the rest of us understand why our country must continually pay such a high and bloody price for their selfishness.

but watch and see, the NRA (the letter of which are more and more coming to mean "No Rational Arguments") will bully our elected leaders to prevent any laws that would make guns harder to acquire.

I’m convinced that the founders who wrote the brief language of the Second Amendment in 1791 would turn in their graves if they could see the carnage that has resulted. The primitive muzzle loaders of their day could never come anywhere near the immediate killing power of today’s sophisticated weapons.

Time change. So, too, should interpretations of that badly-outdated language written over 200 years ago.
