OGDEN — Plans for rape crisis advocacy training have been announced by the Utah Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Your Community Connection, in conjunction with New Hope Crisis Center in Brigham City.
The training will be held at New Hope Crisis Center in Brigham City on Jan. 28-30, and at Your Community Connection in Ogden for the community classes on Feb. 4-5, 7 and 11.
The training will meet the 40-hour requirement of the Utah Confidential Communications Act to be certified as a rape crisis advocate in Utah.
If you are volunteering for the Rape Recovery Program at the YCC, the cost is $50; however, if you complete the course, the $50 will be refunded. A background check is required for all who volunteer.
Volunteer advocates assist sexual assault victims as they begin the path to recovery and are a valuable resource in the community. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Terrie Stephenson, rape recovery coordinator at the YCC at 801-6891737.
