OGDEN -- A detached shed that was being used by a man for housing was a total loss early Sunday in a fire that caused $18,000 in damages.
Ogden City Fire crews were called at 2:12 a.m. Sunday to a structure fire at 464 Kiesel Ave.
Crews found the shed fully engulfed in flames, according to a news release from Ogden City Fire Department.
The occupant was awakened by the flames and made it out of the shed unharmed. He also evacuated his father and two dogs from the adjacent house, the release stated.
Flames from the shed were impinging on the garage of the adjacent house when fire crews arrived. The garage sustained minimal damage.
A power line, which was arcing on the ground, prevented direct access to the fire initially, but was quickly controlled by utility company personnel.
Both occupants are temporarily displaced and will be staying with family members, according to the release.
The cause of the fire is unknown, and the fire is currently under investigation by the office of the fire marshal.
There were no injuries associated with the blaze.
