Many areas in government are broken

Editor,

What a mess are politicians. Today’s political issues are money, revenues.

Last summer the county assessors office inspected properties to increase taxes/revenues. For more revenue, why don’t they enforce the "snow or weed" ordinance? How many sidewalks of homes and businesses rarely get shoveled? Enforce ordinances/fines that are already on the books, but, that’s rocket science to elected officials.

Concerning our federal problems, "those who point the finger, are generally most guilty of it." What I am getting at are politicians pointing fingers at CEO’s having "golden parachutes." What on earth do you call the politicians retirements and health benefits? Cut their pay and put all senators and congressmen on the same retirement as federal employees (F.E.R.S. Federal Employees Retirement System).

I am confident this would spur several good things. We would see a fixed Social security system, statesmen in office, reduced wasteful spending and a reduced deficit. There would be less political bickering and work would be getting done in Washington.

Last but not least is our broken judicial system, not the laws or processes, but the people elected. When judges pick and choose what laws to enforce, we need new judges. For example; Utah code 76-7-103 is never enforced. They should all be booted out along with their commissioners.

When we cycle through several elections, we might get the point across. We need better. To those currently sitting in office, if can’t do the job for the public that elected you, then "you’re out!"
