Mildred Wayment Bird of Washington Terrace celebrated her 80th birthday with a family dinner held in her honor.
She was born Dec. 30, 1932. She married Robert Earl Bird on Oct. 12, 1960. Their three children and spouses are Stanley and Pam Bird, Linda and Kelly Muncy, and Dorothy and Randy Donnelson. She enjoys 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Warren was the place of her birth, where she says that she enjoyed many meaningful friendships. She also says she was never alone in a houseful of five sisters and two brothers and other relations. Two of her sisters, Connie Rhees, and Lorna and Carl Barker, make daily phone calls to cheer and comfort each other.
She graduated from Weber High School in 1951. She also graduated from Weber College with a degree in education in 1953. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Utah State University and then began working for the Weber County School District for the next 34 years. She taught at Washington Terrace Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary and Plain City Elementary schools.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Washington Terrace 4th Ward, and has held many callings in Primary, Young Women’s and Relief Society. As a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, she enjoyed many activities and lessons.
Now she enjoys the companionships of her close neighbors, friends and family.
