Editor, I feel every school shooting is a terrible tragedy! I think it’s the most terrible for the victims and their families. What I dislike the most is when the shooters’ names and pictures are displayed on TV and in newspapers and their names are discussed on the radio. We should not care who these shooters are or why they committed such a despicable act! Let law enforcement worry about them. I prefer to focus on the victims and their families and hope they can find solace where ever possible. When these potential shooters do what they do, some or all know they will receive some type of notoriety or fame from shooting people whether they get caught, are detained and go to jail, or if they commit suicide. We as a society help create them by knowing or talking about what they did and asking ourselves and each other why they did what they did. Again, we should not care because we cannot bring back those who died a senseless death. It will not help families because their loved ones are still gone. I think that if these potential shooters know they will not be mentioned or talked about for doing what they plan to do, then it is slightly less likely that they will shoot people. But, there are many insane people who do not care or think of others. If they choose to kill, then they will. But, we must do our parts by not encouraging them! Jason Olney Ogden
