I am writing in reference to the Jan. 8 letter, "Cats shouldn't be running loose." I'm sorry, those owners are not responsible for that cat being shot. The sick individual who shot it is. The owners of this cat talked about how it prefers to sleep in the garage. Apparently this cat was a rescue cat that felt more comfortable living outside the house. And, not all cats running loose belong to people. Some cats don't have homes because the people who get them decide they don't want them and they "throw them away."
If animal control personnel picks up a cat, more than likely, it will be euthanized, which is unfortunate.
Fortunately, for some animals, there are people like myself who try and take care of these animals so they have a home. And, about the comment of driving around and garage doors being open six inches, that is the homeowner's own business. Unless you are directly harmed by an animal, don't worry about what other people do. And if you are harmed, then go to animal control services and rent a trap.
I have pity for anyone who is your neighbor because you really sound like you just don't like animals and you are not a happy person.
