Woman dead in Salt Lake police shooting

SALT LAKE CITY — A woman suspected in an armed robbery has been shot dead in a Salt Lake City neighborhood in a confrontation with police.

Salt Lake City Sgt. Shawn Josephson says the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team had been seeking two women allegedly involved in a robbery at a Murray restaurant over the weekend.

Josephson says the team encountered one of the women about noon Wednesday, and she was shot on Lake Street by a South Salt Lake police officer who was on the team. Josephson says the events that led up to the shooting are under investigation.

The identity of the woman who was killed has not been made public.

Police say they’re still looking for the second suspect in the Murray robbery.
