South Weber approves truck purchase

SOUTH WEBER -- The city council unanimously approved the purchase of a $48,005.44 public works truck and plow.
During the discussion, Councilman Farrell Poll stated, “I hate to see $50,000 spent on a truck to run around and read meters.”
He also said he wanted something “more economical.”
Mark Larson, the city inspector, said this was a better option because the public works department needed a truck large enough to pull a utility bed that contained equipment needed for repairs. Going back and forth to the shop to retrieve tools would not be very efficient, Larson added.
Larson replied, “You cannot buy a vehicle cheaper,” than he could through the state.
David Thomas, Michael Poff, Randy Hilton, and Joe Gertge also voted.
