BRIDGELAND -- A worker at the construction site of a natural gas pipeline in northeast Utah has died after he was accidently crushed by a steel pipe.
The Duchesne County Sheriff's Office says a machine that bends sections of steel pipe slid into the pipeline trench around 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Lt. Travis Tucker says 62-year-old David Ray Broome grabbed a piece of pipe that was in the machine to try and stop its fall.
Tucker says the machine still fell into the trench and Broome was crushed by the pipe as it fell to the ground.
The sheriff's office and officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating.
