God loves everyone, regardless of their choices

Editor,

For me, the horrid event in Newtown really hit close to home. I’m personally acquainted with the mother and maternal grandparents of poor little Emilie Parker, one of those who was murdered.

That innocent child’s grandparents on both sides reside not very far from my home. It’s even more tragic that this horrid event happened at Christmas time.

Many people would ask why it would happen or why at Christmas time. I have an answer: Satan.

Satan hates both people and Christmas. Tragedies and criminal activities always increase at Christmas time. And, then there’s also the temptation.

A wise man said that if we entertain temptation, then temptation will entertain us. I believe that when we entertain temptation, it’s easier to yield, because it’s more difficult to resist. I’ve always loved Christmas time. It’s my very favorite time of the year. But, when things like this happen at all, be it at Christmas time or any other time of year, I get really sick in my heart as do many others.

Some, especially atheists, would ask, “Where was God at these moments?” But, I know that God lives and loves all of his children, regardless of what choices they make. And that’s one of the many reasons why he sent his son. He granted all of us the liberty to choose between right and wrong. And, that’s another reason.
