Bees win own Richardson Memorial

BRIGHAM CITY — Box Elder High wrapped up a busy wrestling week with a convincing team victory in the Richardson Memorial tournament on Saturday evening at Box Elder High School’s gym.

The Bees tallied 273 points, topping Mountain Crest (186.5), Layton (177) and Fremont (169.5). Star Valley, Wyo., was fifth with 159 points, followed by Bear River (125.5), Viewmont (124), Weber (101), Logan (96), Clearfield (65) and Roy (58).

Box Elder got winning efforts from Shand Hardy at 132 pounds, Matt Williams at 152; Rasten Yeates at 160; Nick Sorenson at 170; and Breckin Gunter at 195; and runner-up finishes from Teagan Hubbard at 138, as well as several other top-four finishes.

Division winners include Viewmont’s Taylor Porath at 106; Mountain Crest’s Trevor Lowe at 113; Layton’s Andrew Astled at 120; and Mountain Crest’s Brady Dart at 126.

Dakota Caldwell (Weber) 23-5, Sr. over Zeth Porter (Clearfield) 15-7, Sr. (I-D 0:00).

Also, Star Valley’s Carbon Kennington won at 138; Mountain Crest’s Jordan Wengreen at 145; Mountain Crest’s Taylon Niederhauser at 182; Star Valley’s Derrick Wolfley at 220; and Logan’s Jacoby Wildman at 285.
