OGDEN — A woman reportedly held against her will in an Ogden apartment for two days last week was stabbed by her accused captor, 35-year-old Jonathan Odell, according to court records.
Odell is currently being held in Weber County Jail for attempted criminal homicide, aggravated kidnapping, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, interruption of a communication device, and five unrelated felony warrants.
Odell is accused of holding a woman captive in an apartment at 2530 Harrison Blvd. from Monday until her escape Wednesday.
Odell and the woman used to live together for several months, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by Ogden police in 2nd District Court.
On Monday, Odell attacked the woman by jumping on top of her while she was lying in bed, the affidavit states, then used a knife to stab the woman on the right wrist, left shoulder and left side of her neck.
“After stabbing (the woman), he continued to yell at her... to ‘shut the f--- up, or I’ll slit your throat and finish the job,’ ” the affidavit says.
The woman was treated at an area hospital. Details about her medical condition were not available.
Odell also took the batteries and charger for the woman’s cell phone so she couldn’t callpolice, according to the affidavit.
Odell was also convicted in 2nd District Court of attempted kidnapping in February 2011 and sentenced to a year in jail, records show.
That conviction stemmed from a November 2010 incident at his residence in the 3500 block of Porter Avenue. where he held his girlfriend in a basement bedroom and wouldn’t allow her to leave.
