Athlene Greenwell

Athlene McFarland Greenwell of West Weber will celebrate her 90th birthday at a family dinner held in her honor today, Jan. 13.

She was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Taylor to Lawrence and Margaret Green.

She married Dean L. McFarland on May 25, 1942, in Preston, Idaho. Their vows were solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Ogden Temple. He died March 9, 1973. She then married Lewis Greenwell in 1983. He died Dec. 15, 2000.

She attended schools in Weber County and graduated from Weber High School in 1940. She has held many LDS Church positions, including ward organist, Primary and Mutual teacher, Relief Society secretary and served on the Primary stake board.

Her hobbies include bowling, doing word search puzzles, camping and spending time with family. She has lived in West Weber for the last 71 years.

Her two sons and spouses are Dennis and Char McFarland, and Ron and Karen McFarland. She has five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, numerous stepchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
