Vern Parker Harris of Roy will celebrate his 80th birthday. Family and friends are welcome to attend a birthday party in his honor from 2 to 4 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the LDS Church building on 1150 E. 2600 North, North Ogden. His favorite band, Stampede, will play.
He now resides at Stoneybrooke Assisted Living, 4390 S. 700 West in Riverdale, for those who would like to visit him or send a note.
He was born Jan. 19, 1933, in Layton to Vera Mae and David Oscar Harris. He married Renee Bitton on Nov. 3, 1952, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Logan Temple.
He served in the Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and shared these experiences with his children.
His children and spouses are Kaylene and Scott Steele, Carolyn Massengale, Richard and Cindy Harris, Mike and Tricia Harris, and Julie Harris (deceased). He has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
