PLEASANT VIEW -- The salt shed needs a new roof.
Council members recently approved a bid from Cody Rees Construction company to do the work.
The bid was approximately $7,000, but there may be some change orders when the project is complete, which could result in savings for the city according to City Administrator Melinda Brimhall.
Seven companies bid on the project according to Brimhall, who said the bid from Rees was the lowest of them all.
"We are just covering the concrete structure we have out there now," said Councilman Michael Humphreys.
Humphreys said three sections of the structure need to be covered.
Councilman Toby Mileski said there is approximately 32,000 square feet that need to be covered. He said the roof will look very much like the roof on the new city shop.
Jones and Associates had approved the design for the roof and Mileski questioned the need for their approval and asked if things could be done in-house.
"Some things have to be done by a licensed engineer," said Brimhall.
"If we continue to do things, we might want to consider hiring an engineer," said Mileski.
"We would still have to outsource a great deal of work," said Brimhall, "There are a lot of benefits to having an outsource."
Council members unanimously approved the bid from Cody Rees Construction.
