OGDEN -- The Weber-Morgan Health Department is offering a free six-week self-management class to those who want a healthy start to 2013.
Living Well with Chronic Conditions will begin Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and will continue each Wednesday at that time until Feb. 27, at the Weber County Health Department third-floor library, 477 23rd St.
"This is a time of year when people think about making healthy changes to their lives," says Rochelle Creager, a health educator with the Weber-Morgan Health Department. "We try to help people learn how to set goals, communicate with their caregivers and deal with their emotions. "
Classes are free to those living, or caring for individuals, with a chronic condition such as asthma, arthritis, cancer, heart disease, emphysema, depression and others. Subjects covered include techniques to combat frustration, fatigue, pain and isolation; appropriate exercise to maintain and improve strength; use of medications and proper nutrition; techniques to communicate with family, friends, and health professionals and guidelines to evaluate new treatments.
