Cyril Call

Cyril “Cy” Call of North Ogden celebrated his 85th birthday with a family dinner at Jeremiah’s.

He was born in Ogden Jan. 16, 1928, to Frank E. Call and Johanna Jorgensen Call. He spent his early years in Nevada. The family moved to Ogden in 1940. He was educated in Ogdenschools and graduated from Ogden High School and Weber State College.

He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Spanish-American Mission. After returning from his mission, he served two years in the Army during the Korean War. He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1989. He was a contract negotiator in the Directorate of Procurement.

A lifelong member of the LDS Church, he has served in many capacities, including ward clerk, executive secretary, councilor in the bishopric, member of the high council and temple worker. He also served in the Kentucky Louisville LDS Mission with his wife.

He married Joanne Taylor June 1, 1951. They raised six children. Their children and spouses are Jennie and Bill Stoker, Marcianne Monsen (deceased), Scott Monsen (now married to Dana Rogers), Joseph C. and RaQuelle Call, R. Kent and Dana Call, Kathleen Mayhew, and Marybeth and Brian Runnels. They have 23 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
