LD Steward

LD “Jab” Steward of Ogden will celebrate his 80th birthday. Family and friends may attend a surprise birthday party to be held in his honor from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at 1325 Washington Blvd., Ogden.

He was born Jan. 26, 1933, in Stamps, Ark., to Barbara Anderson and LJ Steward. He moved to Ogden in 1951 and served in the Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955.

After the military, he worked as a cook on the railroad, and in construction, helping in the building of the East Canyon Dam. He later worked for Defense Depot Ogden. After working for the government for 30 years, he retired in 1977. Since 1998, he has worked for Smith & Edwards.

He has 11 children, 33 grandchildren, 66 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

He enjoys life, fishing, spending time with his family and making them laugh.
