Oil rig catches fire near Roosevelt; homes evacuated

ROOSEVELT -- Authorities say a drilling rig caught fire near Roosevelt and forced the evacuation of a work crew.

The Uintah County Sheriff's Office says the blaze was reported shortly after midnight Monday.

Officials say the drill rig is shooting flames and black smoke into the air.

A roadblock has been set up and three nearby homes evacuated.

No injuries are being reported.

Roosevelt is about 100 miles east of Salt Lake City.
