Hill AFB colonel up for promotion

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — The Air Force announced today that President Barack Obama nominated 35 colonels to the Senate for appointment to the rank of brigadier general.

Among the nominees is Col. Scott C. Long, Commander, 388th Fighter Wing, Hill AFB.

Long was commissioned upon graduation from the United States Air Force Academy in 1988. Throughout his career, he has served in various positions in the U.S., Korea and Afghanistan. Long took command of the wing in April 2011. Prior to his current assignment, Long was the commander of the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group at Bagram Airfield in Afghanistan.
