I was enjoying a look at mug shots and after a few days (not unusual) it didn’t change or update as usual. Finally a notice was posted stating the sheriff’s office had cut off the data. Finally a letter from the public information officer was posted on their Facebook page. It basically stated they perceived misuse of public information and rather than pursue those misusing it (data) they stopped sharing it.
I’m actually a “victim. I had not paid various traffic ticket fines and got stopped and of course, booked into the system which published me in everything. Now I’m learning that apparently it is and was misused and several of my peers have been wronged, up to and including “extortion.” The very folks who are trusted to act chose not to!
Well, the thing that gets me is that this was done on such a large scale. My picture was in copies of “mugs,” and posted on the paper’s Facebook site and on and on. All mugs were posted except one notable exception--those on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) hold. Yet, no arrest or investigation or even a inquiry into any possible course of action was being undertaken on my part nor apparently enough “victims” to change a policy overnight, and possibly “class action” status to any enterprising attorney out there.
