Residents urged to prevent frozen lines

SOUTH OGDEN -- Residents are being encouraged to run a trickle of cold water from an inside faucet to prevent freezing and bursting water lines. Even though the temperatures are rising, the frost line is unusually deep and the potential for freezing water lines remains. Flowing water won't freeze as quickly as still water. If your pipes do freeze, officials advise shutting off the main water valve, then opening all faucets to relieve pressure in the pipes.
