Apology not seeming enough for family

Editor,

After watching and reading numerous news stories about the Ogden City Police Department’s “mistaken identity incident,” it appears that someone is looking for a big payout. Even though Ogden Police chief Mike Ashment and Mayor Mike Caldwell have apologized publicly, conducted an investigation into the matter and have made several policy changes concerning warrant service, it just doesn’t seem to be enough for the Hill family. I read in a recent newspaper article that the Hill family is refusing to even talk with the police department (Jan. 23, “Arrest-warrant policy to change”).

To the Hill family, I say, “mistakes happen in the world. Accept their apology and move on.” Unfortunately, I think we all know what is going to happen. Let’s see if I’m right.
