I want to commend two Washington Terrace snowplow drivers who recognized a situation and took action. During a recent heavy snowstorm our mailbox had been knocked off the post obviously by a snowplow. We didn't discover it until 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon. I was standing on the porch with my crutches (from surgery) as my wife was picking up the mailbox. At the same time, a Washington Terrace city truck pulled up. Two gentlemen got out of the cab. They were snowplow drivers and apologized for its happening. They had come back at the end of their shift to help fix the mailbox. The drivers were very nice.
We said we definitely understand how those things happen and not to worry. I told them I had a spare box in my storage shed. The drivers took my spare mailbox and fixed us up and indicated a work order would be submitted for better resolution. We thanked the drivers and I asked how long they had been out plowing. Their day started at 4:00 a.m. and here they were back at our house after twelve hours of plowing to fix our mailbox.
I wanted to share this positive experience with the readers. My only regret is I did not ask the drivers their names, but they know who they are. I hope the public works department at Washington Terrace can further recognize these professional plow drivers.
