Here are reasons why Feinstein's proposed 2013 assault weapons ban should be taken seriously by conservatives and liberals:
1. This bill is not about stopping crime, it is about disarming the public.
1. Feinstein: "The purpose is to dry up the supply of these weapons."
2. Federal and state gun violence data does not verify that assault weapon bans reduce gun violence; even when using the same studies by Koper cited in the preamble of the 2013 assault weapons ban. Why is disarming the public a big deal? Without guns, Americans will be defenseless against the tools and tactics used by tyrants: enslavement, genocide, rape, weaponization of children, torture, seizure of property and assets, and abolition of due process. Sounds extreme doesn't it? These things could never happen, right? There is Kony, Rowanda, Darfur, Cambodia, Holocaust, Inquisition, Masada, early Christianity; the full list is too long to insert here.
3. Relevant context is: It doesn't take a constitutional scholar to deduce that the Second Amendment was penned with dear old England in mind. Yet, King George III was hardly history's poster child of tyranny. Today's media may not alert us to the despotic tenancies of our elected officials. "By their fruits ye shall know them."
