Wayne and Cleone Hipwell Wall of Layton will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. Family and friends may attend an open house in their honor from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, at the Fairfield Chapel, 380 S. Fairfield Road, Layton.
They were married on Jan. 29, 1953, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
He was born in Layton and graduated from Davis High School. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War, serving in France. She joined him, and they enjoyed vacationing and traveling throughout Europe. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Local 348. He retired from Honeywell Inc. after 32 years. He served twice on the East Layton Town Board. He enjoys hunting and fishing with his family.
She was raised in Wilson and graduated from Weber High School. She worked at several jobs before staying home and raising their children. She volunteered for several years at McKay-Dee Hospital. She enjoys doing genealogy work for her family and worked for nine years in the Family History Center.
They volunteered for 10 years at Antelope Island. They enjoy spending summers at their cabin with their children and grandchildren.
Their children and spouses are Steve and Diane Wall, Alaska; Diane and Paul Laprevote, Oregon; David and Piera Wall, Layton; Todd and Robyn Wall, Smithfield; Bruce Wall, Arizona; and Jeannie Wall, Kaysville. They have 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
