Joyce Terry of South Ogden celebrated her 80th birthday with a private party at the Maddox Ranch House Restaurant on Jan. 19.
She was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Mount Pleasant to Gy C. and Vendora Hansen. She married David Ray Terry on June 8, 1956, in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Idaho Falls Temple.
She attended school in Mount Pleasant. The family moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho, where she was on the drill team and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. She attended Brigham Young University, where she was a cougarette. She met and married David Terry, and they had three children.
She spent many years working in banking, retiring from Weber State Credit Union in 1995.
She supported her family while her husband earned a doctorate degree. They raised their family in Provo; Dugway; Champaign, Ill.; Dekalb, Ill.; and South Ogden.
Her interests have included quilting and gardening. She has served in many callings in the LDS Church. She says her greatest service came from her kitchen to countless family, neighbors and friends.
Their children and spouses are Aleesa and Teag Solberg, David and Jalaire Terry, and Dru and Margo Terry. They have 13 grandchildren and expect four great-grandchildren soon.
