SALT LAKE CITY -- A new poll suggests that Utah's embattled attorney general has very little support among residents of Utah.
A survey of 500 people done by Key Research and Brigham Young University's Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy shows that only 14 percent say John Swallow did nothing illegal or unethical.
The recently-elected Swallow is accused of orchestrating a plan to quash a federal investigation by bribing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
The accusations come from federally-indicted Utah businessman Jeremy Johnson. He is accused of running a $350 million scheme that billed consumers for products they never ordered.
The poll shows that Swallow, a Republican, has only scant support from his own party. Fifty-three percent of Republicans surveyed say he did something illegal (13 percent) or unethical (40 percent).
