SALT LAKE CITY -- The makeup of the Utah State Museum Authority would change if a measure that cleared a House transportation committee on Thursday is enacted into law.
HB70, sponsored by Rep Jeremy Peterson, R-Ogden, amends the makeup of the local museum board, adding a representative from Ogden city as well as Union Station. The change also removes one of the commissioners from Box Elder County from the board that oversees key railroad sites in the Top of Utah
Organized in 2009, the railroad museum authority was set up with six representatives of Box Elder and two members from Weber County. The imbalance did not go unnoticed, according to Jan Zogmaister, a Weber County commissioner.
"It was the board that came together that said we need to change the membership," Zogmaister said. "We're up and running and operating, but we would like that balance."
