Bountiful council OKs subdivision

BOUNTIFUL -- The city council has granted preliminary approval to a new subdivision, which is expected to include 17 single-family homes at approximately 100 East North Canyon Road in an area known to be the former home to a small group of llamas.

The property is currently owned by Jim Williams but Brighton Homes is the applicant seeking the subdivision approval. One of the corrections called for giving the project the green light to change to name of subdivision. Originally called the Pines at North Canyon city officials worry about potential confusion with an adjacent subdivision also using pines as part of the reference.

The approval was also granted after officials discussed potential pedestrian traffic concerns for school children in the area who attend Muir Elementary School.

The project is located in an R-4 zone, which requires four lots per acre.
