Bountiful rules 4-A drill championships; Copper Hills claims 5-A

OREM — The Bountiful High drill team kept its dominant streak going Friday, claiming its fourth straight state 4-A championship during spirited competition at Utah Valley University’s UCCU Center.

The Mandonelles, who have won 19 of the last 20 state 4-A titles, won military, taking second in the dance and kick portion of the competition.

Hillcrest finished second, followed by Maple Mountain, Mountain Crest and Bonneville.

Mountain Crest, the Region 5 champion, was first in kick. Bonneville finished fourth in dance and fifth in military.

In the 5-A competition, Copper Hills and Bingham renewed their rivalry, finishing 1-2 in all three disciplines. Bingham had won the last two 5-A titles.

Region 1 champion finished third in the kick competition. The state 3-A and 2-A/1-A competitions are today at the UCCU Center.
