Richard and Ruela Weeks of Clearfield celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Tuesday, Jan. 29. They will be honored at a dinner with family in the coming weeks.
They were married in Memory Grove on Jan. 29, 1953. Their vows were later solemnized in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Salt Lake Temple.
He was born in Burley, Idaho, and later moved to Clearfield, where he graduated from Davis High School. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War, stationed at Presidio of Monterey, Calif. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 36 years. He also owns Dick’s Boat Shop in Clearfield and has operated that for 53 years. He enjoys hunting, camping and cycling, especially in Island Park, Idaho.
She was born in Salt Lake City and graduated from Davis High School. She worked at a few jobs, including the Internal Revenue Service before staying home and raising their four children. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren and now her great-grandchildren. She also enjoys spending time with her family at their cabin in Bear Lake and in Island Park, Idaho.
Their children and spouses are Jeff and Andrea Weeks, Lorrie and Wes Goldsberry, Jill and David Mikesell, and Tracy and Torie Weeks. They have 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with two on the way.
