CLINTON — A 20-year-old man is facing felony charges after a 13-year-old said he had sex with her.
Clinton Police Detective Shawn Stoker said the Division of Children and Family Services contacted police about the abuse, which allegedly occurred in 2011 when the girl was 12 years old and the man was 18 years old.
After an investigation, police arrested Joel Tristan Smith and booked him in Davis County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
Smith was booked on two counts of rape of a child, one count of sodomy on a child and one count of sexual abuse of a child.
The Davis County Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case before filing formal charges in 2nd District Court.
