SOUTH SALT LAKE -- A 57-year-old man is dead after his vehicle was struck by a TRAX train in South Salt Lake.
Police spokesman Gary Keller says Larry R. Aullman was pronounced dead at the hospital after the incident about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Utah Transit Authority spokesman Gerry Carpenter says crossing arms went down about 20 seconds before Aullman's car was struck. Authorities say they're still investigating why the car ended up behind the arms.
Carpenter says train traffic in the area was stopped for several hours after the incident, and passengers were transported around the scene by bus.
UTA says the crash is the second one between a TRAX train and other vehicles so far this this year.
