WILLARD -- Tony Shepherd got his first taste of ice climbing on a route that more experienced climbers say is a great place to start.
Shepherd, who lives and plays in Northern California, was visiting relatives in the Ogden area and wanted to try something new. He had been researching ice climbing routes in the area and one of his cousins had the right gear, so he decided to check out a little place called Willard Falls.
"I didn't get real far up, but it was a lot of fun and really pretty," Shepherd said as he prepared to get back into his car at the mouth of Willard Canyon. "I would definitely like to come back and do the whole thing when I get a little better at it."
