County commission signs attorneys

OGDEN -- The Weber County Commission approved contracts between the county and several attorneys and investigators to provide public legal defense.

The attorneys and investigators will provide indigent defense services in the county’s juvenile court, district court and appeals court.

The Juvenile Court attorneys include Gary Barr, Jennifer Clark, Jon Pace, Carol Mortensen, Tony Miles and Jason Richards.

The District Court attorneys include Haylee Mills, Jim Retallick, Martin Gravis, Randy Marshall, Sean Young and Steve Laker.

Sam Newton will work with the appeals court.

The county also hired Mike Bouwhuis to be Indigent Defense Coordinator and District Court Investigator and investigator Mike Stewart.

Most of the contracts are for a two-year term, except for the contracts with Miles, Richards and Laker, which will be for one year.

The Board of Commissioners of Weber County approved the contracts on Feb. 5 during its weekly commission meeting in the Commission Chambers of the Weber Center, 2380 Washington Boulevard.
