Bill would create task force to make education recommendations

SALT LAKE CITY — A local lawmaker’s legislation would create a state education task force charged with making recommendations on public education and higher education.

SB 169, sponsored by Sen. Stuart Reid, R-Ogden, would establish the 14-member task force, which would also be responsible for setting standards for Utah to be competitive in the U.S. and the world.

The group would be made up of political leaders with the Senate president and speaker of the House serving as co-chairs.
