Debris on I-15 causes 2 rear-end crashes

ST. GEORGE — Authorities say one person was flown to a hospital after large rolls of insulation fell onto Interstate 15 in southern Utah and prompted two car crashes.Utah Highway Patrol officials say the crashes happened about 5:30 p.m. Monday in St. George. Troopers say one crash happened as a vehicle slowed for the insulation and was rear-ended by a second vehicle.

A male passenger was airlifted to a Las Vegas hospital.

Troopers say a second crash happened within a minute of the first crash. Officials say a passenger vehicle that was slowing for the first crash was rear-ended by a second vehicle.

No injuries were reported in the second crash.

Authorities say the driver of a pickup that lost the insulation contacted them, and they’re following up with him.
