SALT LAKE CITY -- Gov. Gary Herbert is asking Utah drivers to slow down on the roads after a series of accidents where motorists crashed into Utah Highway Patrol cars.
During a news conference Tuesday, Herbert cautioned the public to slow down and pull over when there's a trooper on the side of the road.
The Utah Highway Patrol has repeatedly urged motorists to slow down, especially when winter weather creates slick conditions on the roadways.
There have been 13 accidents this year where out-of-control vehicles hit patrol cars, including four such accidents over the weekend and one on Monday.
Injuries to troopers have been serious enough to require medical attention.
