WEST JORDAN — Mission accomplished for the Jayhawks.
The St. Joseph boys basketball squad earned a hard-fought Region 17 basketball game with a 61-53 win over West Ridge Academy on Tuesday.
Coach Chad Loosemore’s Jayhawks are closing in on the league’s No. 2 seed for the state 1-A tournament.
David Donlevy scored 15 points, nailing four 3-pointers, while Jordan Jones added 13 points and seven assists. Donlevy, Jones and Nick Gruet combined for 10 3-pointers.
Thomas Emenger added a dozen points and 14 boards, while Gruet added 11 points and Sebastian Pomeroy checked in with eight points.
St. Joseph led 40-37 after three periods and managed to stay ahead to the final buzzer.
Alec Metzger led West Ridge Academy with 14 points.
