Longtime Fruit Heights treasurer to retire

FRUIT HEIGHTS -- After nearly 26 years of service for the city, treasurer Helen Peay plans to retire in February.

The 66-year-old has served with five different mayors and five different city managers during her years of managing the city’s finances. Peay said she remembers when the city offices were originally located in a small section of the Rock Loft when she first began working for the city in 1987.

Being able to serve people in the city is what made her stay for so long, she said.

“I really had a lot of pride in our city and wanted it to be the best and run well. I was happy helping the city be a good place to live,” said Peay, who has lived in Fruit Heights for nearly 30 years.
