House committee unanimously passes resolution to honor Vietnam vets

SALT LAKE CITY — Rep. Richard Greenwood, R-Roy, remembers coming home from Vietnam and being spat at in full uniform in San Francisco.

He and other Vietnam veterans shared different tales of their post-war experiences Friday in front of a House committee considering a resolution to honor veterans of the Asian conflict. The resolution, HCR 6, being run by Rep. Curt Oda, R-Clearfield, recognizes the 50th anniversary of the war and those who served in that conflict.

The resolution calls for state residents to reflect the service and sacrifice of those who served in the conflict. It passed the committee with unanimous support.
