3 pedestrians sustain serious injuries when struck while crossing Washington Blvd.

OGDEN —Three people were struck by a pickup truck Saturday night while crossing Washington Boulevard near Peery’s Egyptian Theater.

An eyewitness to the accident said the pedestrians had just left the Banff Film Festival, held at the theater. They were in a crosswalk, heading east across the 2400 block of Washington, when they were hit by a southbound 1991 Isuzu pickup driven by a 22-year-old Ogden man, said Ogden Police Lt. Will Cragun.

The victims included an 83-year-old woman, a 72-year-old woman and 12-year-old girl, said Cragun. It was unknown if the victims are related.

The victims were taken by ambulance to a local hopsital in serious but stable condition, he added.

The accident remains under investigation. No citations had been issued late Saturday night.

A witness said she heard a huge crash, then people started screaming and yelling, “Oh, no!”

The accident occurred about 10:25 p.m. A nearby streetlight is out, and one witness speculated the driver may not have seen the pedestrians before they were hit.

At least one of the victims appeared to be coherent after the accident, a witness said.
