ST. GEORGE — Gov. Gary R. Herbert signed House Bill 61 on Saturday, officially making Dixie State the sixth university in the Utah System of Higher Education.
Dixie State University President Dr. Stephen D. Nadauld acknowledged the early pioneers who settled the area more than 150 years ago and their desires to establish education as a focal point of the area.
